Truly, all people of your kind (human beings) are exposed to temptations, but whoever does not allow all of
his or her powers of the love for the truth to be tempted has unlimited might over himself or herself, therefore no evil is able to harm him or her, because it can neither bark nor growl, and neither chase nor bite. |

Wahrlich, alle Euresgleichen (Menschen) sind Versuchungen ausgesetzt, doch wer all seine
Kräfte der Wahrheitsliebe nicht versuchen lässt, hat unbeschränkt Macht über sich selbst, so ihm
alles Böse nichts anhaben kann, denn es kann weder bellen noch knurren, nicht hetzen und
nicht beissen. |

It is possible to withstand any temptation if you are sufficiently strong in your knowledge about the truth and
if you keep your powerful thoughts and feelings right from the start away from anything which is unreal concerning the truth and therefore from any temptation; to achieve this it is necessary to continue your own
admonishment and watchfulness on a permanent basis, because only through this are you guaranteed that
you will not fall prey to any temptation as an offering (sacrifice). |

Jeder Versuchung kann widerstanden werden, wenn ihr in eurem Wissen um die Wahrheit stark
genug seid und von Anfang an eure kraftvollen Gedanken und Eindrücke (Gefühle) von allem
Wahrheitsunwirklichen und also von jeder Versuchung ablenkt; dazu bedarf es der dauernden
eigenen Ermahnung und Wachsamkeit, denn nur dadurch ist euch gewährt, dass ihr keiner Versuchung als Drangabe (Opfer) verfallt. |

Every temptation that you overcome gives you new power, benefits and more and more delight in the truth,
through which you place a crown (permanence) on yourselves which is constantly ready for you and which you
only need to grasp and put on yourselves. |

Durch jede überwundene Versuchung gewinnt ihr neue Kraft, Vorteile und immer mehr Wohlgefallen an der Wahrheit, wodurch ihr euch eine Krone (Beständigkeit) aufsetzt, die ständig für
euch bereit ist und die ihr nur ergreifen und euch aufsetzen müsst. |

And consider that if you fall prey to one temptation, then the next one will also follow, therefore you shall
avoid them and turn yourselves to the virtues, because as the virtue is a source of good deeds, so every evil
penchant (talent) and every vice is a source of the bad and unrighteous (conscienceless), as well as of the unfair
(irresponsible) and of inequity (unfairness). |

Und bedenkt, verfallt ihr einer Versuchung, dann folgt auch die nächste nach, also ihr sie vermeiden und euch den Lauterkeiten (Tugenden) zuwenden sollt, denn wie die Lauterkeit (Tugend)
eine Quelle für gute Taten ist, so sind jede böse Neigung (Veranlagung) und jedes Laster eine
Quelle des Schlechten und Unrechtschaffenen (Gewissenlosen) wie des Ungerechten (Verantwortungslosen) und der Unbilligkeit (Ungerechtigkeit). |

You must vanquish the temptations and turn yourselves away from them from the beginning and thereby withstand them by keeping your thoughts and feelings away from them. |

Ihr müsst über die Versuchungen siegen und euch von Anfang an von ihnen abwenden und
ihnen dadurch widerstehen, indem ihr eure Gedanken und Eindrücke (Gefühle) davon ablenkt. |

Truly, if you always consider the truth in all things then you will be called to watchfulness through your admonishment (conscience) against temptations, therefore you must knowingly (consciously) keep watch that
you do not fall into temptation. |

Wahrlich, wenn ihr in allen Dingen immer der Wahrheit bedenkt, dann werdet ihr durch eure
Ermahnung (Gewissen) zur Wachsamkeit gemahnt vor Versuchungen, also ihr wissentlich (bewusst) darüber wachen müsst, dass ihr nicht in Versuchung fallt. |

Consider that there are very many and various types (forms) of temptation which befall you, such as arrogance
(vanity) and avarice (stinginess), envy, immoderacy (immodesty), rage and indolence, hatred and jealousy as
well as the urge for bloody deeds (murder), defilement (crimes), thieving (theft), deception and battles (wars),
as well as many more things besides. |

Bedenkt, der Versuchungen sind sehr viele und in mancherlei Bildsamkeit (Form), die euch befallen, so als Hoffart (Eitelkeit) und Habgier (Geiz), als Neid, Unmässigkeit (Unbescheidenheit),
Zorn und Trägheit, als Hass und Eifersucht wie auch als Lust zur Bluttat (Mord), Schandtat (Verbrechen), Dieberei (Diebstahl), Betrug und Schlachten (Kriegen), wie auch vieles andere. |
